1. the force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth, or toward any other physical body having mass. For most purposes Newton’s laws of gravity apply, with minor modifications to take the general theory of relativity into account.
2. extreme or alarming importance; seriousness.
More often than not we see gravity in a negative light; women are especially guilty of this. As time passes we examine our aging bodies to notice our physical appearance quite literally drooping here and sagging there, reminiscing lustfully on each part of us that once was firm and perky. It’s easy to point an angry finger of blame at gravity. So many services are in high demand to fight back against gravity: botox, fillers, lifts, tucks. Additionally, appearance is so heavily valued these days that it is not uncommon to do such treatments before any signs of aging as a form of prevention.
It is fair to say we take gravity for granted and I’ld like to take a moment to appreciate gravity for all that it give us; connection, grounding, strength.
Think about it for a second, if gravity turned off, we would literally float off into the abyss. The world as we know it would dismantle! Nothing would be tethering us to anything. I digress.
Gravity affirmations I shared in my classes:
I embrace gravity whole heartedly.
Today, as I move through my practice, I leverage gravity to get deeper into my body
Gravity is a positive force that grounds me to this world.
Gravity is a tool that develops strength.
