Intuition (week 9)

  1. the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.
“we shall allow our intuition to guide us”
  2. a thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning.

Our culture is somewhat intuitively deaf.  I think this is because we are so externally distracted that our values are losing depth and substance.  In general, people aren’t taking time to remove themselves from distractions to find stillness and seek their centers. Instead- their energy is absorbed and squandered on material gain, and maintaining appearance on social media platforms.  (see: Human-goldfish syndrome)

We all have an intuitive guide, the degree to which we hear, listen, and apply its wisdom varies from person to person. Here is an excerpt on intuition that I wrote a few years back in post from my personal blog titled, “Give me organic.

2. Honor your intuitive guide.

We are all familiar with this tango.  The little voice that for some reason or another we love to question,  or maybe we don’t even question it.  We see it, we here it, we know whatever it is signaling to us is pure truth, yet the carnal human that also occupies our being dismisses it.  What would your life look like if just for every 1 out of 3 times you felt like ignoring your intuition instead you followed it?  Personally I know it has been working out for me very well.  On multiple occasions I have felt like kicking my own ass for sticky situations I could have avoided.  On the other side of the token, when I have listened to my inner wisdom I have been undoubtably grateful for it.

So how then do we enhance and deepen our relationship with our intuition? Is that even something we can proactively work at?  It certainly does seem like an obscure concept to wrap your brain around.

I believe that the pursuit of meditation is the pursuit of a better knowing of yourself.  In time, with practice you don’t just hear the intuition more clearly, but you receive its wisdom as truth and you act on it accordingly.  An each time you do, your connection and bond with yourself evolves and grows stronger.  In essence- it isn’t about wrapping the brain around it, but about dropping the brain all together so you are able to tune into whats being communicated on a more subtle platform within you.

Ways I shared intuition in the yoga classes I taught this week:

I move from the seat of my intuition, even when it seems scary.
