Oh so fittingly my life served me up a very teachable moment based around trust just yesterday. I found myself without cell service, in a place in the world I had never been, trying to find a group of people at a river spot, with the directions, go to the LEFT of the road. I went left on one side of the river, and then back tracked and went left on the other side. With the word of the week in my mind, I thought trust the directions they gave you, they said left, it is left, so I committed pretty far left both times and kept feeling like it was probably just right, but I didn’t trust my gut; instead I got flustered, I sat down and had a good cry. After an hour of back and forth I threw in the towel and carried on with my journey. (meeting up with the people later in the night, it was in fact to be right of the road after the bridge)
The teachable moment here is becoming aware that I let negative talk and defeatist attitude take over, additionally I didn’t trust my gut. While trusting directions of other people isn’t inherently wrong, cross referencing and going with what your insides are saying will always serve you.
I trust my path.
