VULNERABLE (week 22)

Vulnerable:

  1. susceptible to physical or emotional attack or harm.
    “we were in a vulnerable position”
  2. (of a person) in need of special care, support, or protection because of age, disability, or risk of abuse or neglect.

As I started working with vulnerable this week I flashed back to the beginning of my journey with yoga.  The first few years of practicing every time cat/cow and happy baby were called vulnerability would wash over me.  I felt exposed, I felt uncomfortable, I felt judged.  The unconfident inner child in me would squirm furiously.  “You want me to do what?  In front of how many people?”

Flash forward 10 years to the present moment, and no longer do those shapes phase me.  It goes to show that opening yourself up to the feelings of vulnerability can expand your comfort zones as a person: mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.


Mantras/Affirmations:

I am willing to be vulnerable.

I welcome vulnerability into my life because I know it is a powerful teacher.

I am learning to stop judging my vulnerability and start observing it.

Vulnerability stretches me.
